Ferrari Driver Academy course

Maranello, 6 September 2010

Three days of special training got underway today for five young talents of the Ferrari Driver Academy, at the Maranello facility, on a course that combines driving on the Fiorano circuit with a long series of physical and psycho-attitudinal tests. Starting at eight this morning, the five drivers were fitted with a glycemia monitoring device supplied by Academy partner, Medex, which they will use for the entire duration of the course. After that it was time for the track with Raffaele Marciello and Brandon Maisano taking turns at the wheel of a Formula Abarth, while Jules Bianchi and Mirko Bortolotti worked on the simulator, in preparation for their next event, at Monza this coming weekend. After a quick break for lunch, Jules and Mirko then took part in a live chat with fans on the Ferrari.com site, while Daniel Zampieri tackled a physical resistance training session. Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal, Stefano Domenicali, came to the track to watch the training and to meet with the head of the programme, Luca Baldisserri to discuss the current activities.

Tomorrow, the Ferrari Driver Academy students will tackle a study and evaluation day, while Wednesday sees more on-track activity, when they will perform under the watchful eyes of the Maranello Scuderia’s third driver, Giancarlo Fisichella and its test driver, Andrea Bertolini.
