Grossman and Sernagiotto quickest in Budapest in Friday qualifying

Budapest, 3 September 2010

The first round of qualifying in this weekend’s Ferrari Racing Days event at the Hungaroring circuit has ended today. In action on the Magyar track were the F430s competing in the Italian and European series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, who tackle two rounds of races over Saturday and Sunday.

The first to tackle qualifying, to decide the grid for Saturday’s Race 1, were those taking part in the European series and coming out on top in the fight for pole position was Bjorn Grossman (Autohaus Gohm) beating Alexey Vasiliev (Ferrari Moscow) and Philipp Baron (Baron Service). Fastest lap among the Coppa Shell drivers went to Tibor Valint (Warm Up) who outpaced Alexsandr Skryabin (Ferrari Moscow) and Wido Roessler (Baron Service.) The half hour for the Italian series was very closelt contested, with Giorgio Sernagiotto (Motor/Piacenza) coming out on top, beating Andrea Belluzzi (Motor/Modena) and Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa), while among the gentleman drivers in the Coppa Shell, Andrea Rizzoli (Motor/Piacenza) was quickest, beating Flavio Pierleoni (Motor/Malucelli) and Massimo Mantovani (Motor/Malucelli.)

The busy programme for the “XX Programmes” started with some untimed sessions for the four Ferrari FXX and fourteen 599XX cars. The fifteen historic single-seaters also got their first taste of the Magyar track, run by the F1 Clienti department and on Saturday, their drivers will be able to avail themselves of advice from Marc Gené, tutoring the F1 owners over the course of the Ferrari Racing Days.

Tomorrow features the final two qualifying sessions for the Italian and European series and the first two races. Also on track will be Alvaro Barba, who races in the Spanish GT Open Championship in the AF Corse F430 GT2 car. In Hungary, he will be driving the Safety Car, a Ferrari 458 Italia. Great excitement in anticipation of the arrival of Felipe Massa, the guest of honour on Sunday, who will salute the Prancing Horse fans from the wheel of an F2008 Formula 1 car.
