ALMS – Fantastic Ferrari drive to podium at Mosport

Despite the fact that the weekend did not get off to an auspicious start, the Risi Competizione Ferrari’s escapade in the Mosport Grand Prix in Ontario ended with a second place finish in the eighth and penultimate round of the American Le Mans Series.
The race which was incident packed, neutralised twenty six minutes from the end because of a bad crash and ended under yellow flags, featured a fantastic climb up the order from the crew of Gimmi Bruni and Toni Vilander from the back of the grid to take second place in the Risi Ferrari. The car had set the pole position time in Saturday qualifying, but with drivers indisposed, Jaime Melo being ill and Pierre Kaffer suffering an accident in free practice, the time was disallowed. At the flag, the F430 GT entered by the Houston based Ferrari squad managed to get up behind the winning Porsche 911 of Patrick Long and Jorg Bergmeister and finish ahead of the BMW M3 of Bill Auberlen and Tommy Milner.
The result sees Bruni consolidate his second place in the Drivers’ classification, while Ferrari and Risi Competizione are third in the Constructors’ and Teams’s tables going into the final Petit Le Mans race, at Road Atlanta, Braselton in Georgia over the weekend of 3 October.
