ALMS – An unlucky race

Yesterday’s American Le Mans Series race at Lime Rock Park, Lakeville, Connecticut did not go according to plan for Jaime Melo-Gimmi Bruni. Practice for the fifth round of the series had been affected by rain, making the race somewhat unpredictable, as it took place in the dry apart from a light shower that hit the track in the final stages. The Ferrari number 62 had to retire only 24 minutes into the race, having been bundled off the track in a collision with Johnny O’Connell Corvette. The other F430 GT2 entered by the Houston based Ferrari team, in the hands of Mika Salo and Pierre Kaffer, finished fourth behind the Porsche 911 of Jorg Bergmeister-Patrick Long and the two BMW M3s of Tom Millner-Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand-Dirk Mueller.
Competitors in the high profile American series will be back on track on Saturday 7 August at Lexington’s Mid-Ohio circuit.
