Ferrari at the Le Mans Classic

Maranello, 8 July 2010

This weekend, the legendary circuit that provides the backdrop to one of motor sport’s most famous races, hosts the Le Mans Classic, an amazing event open to historic cars, which has taken place every two years since 2002. Cars that raced prior to 1979 will tackle the 13.65 kilometre La Sarthe circuit, the semi-permanent track which is home to the Le Mans 24 Hours. The race, which is open to drivers and clubs from all over Europe, will take place in three rounds, with cars split into six grids, depending on the model and year of manufacture. The event gets underway on Friday with two free practice sessions, the first in the afternoon from 15.00 to 20.00 and the second at night, from 22.00 to the early hours of the morning. Saturday gets underway with a series of demonstration runs, followed by the race start at 16h00, going on until the same time the next day. There are over 400 entries for the race, including no less than thirty three Ferraris, four of them run by the Ferrari Classiche department of Maranello: a 1959 Dino 196S, a 1961 Dino 246/196SP, a 1964 275/330 P and a 1962 330 TRI.
