The Italian Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will be back in action at the Mugello International Circuit, over the weekend of 4 July, as part of the first of three Ferrari Racing Days scheduled for this year; the other two taking place in Valencia on 18 July and in Budapest on 5 September.

The F430 Challenge cars will be tackling the fourth round of the Italian series of the one-make championship, starting with free practice and qualifying on Saturday, followed by two races on Sunday, when competitors in the Trofeo Pirelli and the Coppa Shell will race together, but with separate classifications.

The weekend will also provide an opportunity to admire the single-seaters prepared by the F1 Clienti department of Maranello, as they tackle a few untimed track sessions. No less than ten cars will take part, including a 1987 ex Alboreto/Berger F1-87/88 C, three of the cars Michael Schumacher drove in 1989, 2003 and 2004 and a 2006 ex-Felipe Massa 248 F1. The Tuscan track will also provide the backdrop for 50 Ferrari owners to get behind the wheel of their cars, as part of the special “Excitement on track” programme.

Going into the eagerly anticipated round, Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa) heads the Italian Trofeo Pirelli classification on 74 points, followed by Lorenzo Case (Motor Piacenza) and Andrea Belluzzi (Motor Modena,) who are on 71 and 66 points respectively. Leading the Coppa Shell is Massimo Mantovani (Motor Malucelli,) seven points clear of fellow gentleman driver Flavio Pierleoni (Motor Malucelli) and eleven ahead of Andrea Rizzoli (Motor Piacenza.)

The two Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli races will be shown live on Sunday 4 July at 11.15 (Race 1) on Sky Sport 2 and at 15.15 (Race 2) on Sky Sport Extra.
