Canadian GP - Another brief session

The third free practice session in preparation for the Canadian Grand Prix has just ended. As was the case yesterday, not many laps were completed because the track was again very slippery, especially in the damp conditions at the start. Fernando Alonso was third fastest, completing 19 laps with a best time of 1.16.495, behind the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton (1.16.058) and Mark Webber in the Red Bull (1.16.340.) Neither Ferrari man got a clean lap on the soft tyre and an off-track excursion meant Felipe Massa had to come back to the pits having clipped a wall with fifteen minutes remaining. The Brazilian then went back out again but could not improve his time, thus ending up twelfth (1.17.231) having completed 16 laps.
Qualifying to decide the grid positions for tomorrow’s race starts at 13.00 local time.
