Canadian GP – A positive comparison

Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull set the fastest time in the second session of free practice for the Canadian Grand Prix, which has just finished at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. At the end of the session the German driver set the fastest time (1.16.877) ahead of Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari (1.16.963) the Spaniard completing 35 laps and the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg (1.17.151). The other Ferrari of Felipe Massa also did well to set the 5th fastest time of 1.17.401 from 33 laps.
This was a good outcome for the team, which today worked on comparisons between different aerodynamic configurations and fuel loads. In this session it was the F10 of Fernando that did a comparison between the two rear wings – as Felipe had done in the morning.
The situation seems to have improved since Turkey but it will be interesting to see how the soft tyres work in the race, because of the rapid degradation provoked by the intense demands of this rarely-used track.
For the protagonists of the eighth round of the Formula 1 world championship the lights will turn green again tomorrow morning at 11am local time for the third and final practice session.
