It was a very satisfying weekend for Ferrari, in action at the Magione circuit in Umbria, for the third round of the Italian GT Championship and at the Jarama circuit for the second round of the Spanish GT Championship.

32 crews tackled the tight and twisty Magione track, with cars from the Maranello marque distinguishing themselves in the GT class. Race 1 witnessed a dominant performance from the Ferraris of Piergiuseppe Perazzini-Marco Cioci (AF Corse,) Andrea Montermini-Emanuele Moncini (Villorba Corse) and Massimiliano Mugelli-Andrea Palma (Vittoria Competizioni) who recorded a clean sweep of the podium, followed by the AF Corse cars of Alessandro Garofano-Rui Aguas and Michele Rogolo-Giuseppe Ciro, who took the chequered flag in fourth and fifth places.

Race 2 saw Garofano and Aguas get the upper hand, leading away from the start to finish ahead of the F430 GT2 cars of Mugelli-Palma and Cioci-Perazzini. Montermini and Moncini thus lead the current standings in the GT2 class with 70 points, seven ahead of Garofano-Aguas and eight ahead of Mugelli-Palma.

In the Spanish GT Championship, the F430s entered in this important round ended the first race with a fantastic triple: heading the Ferrari dominance was the ART team’s F430 crewed by Juan Manuel Lopez and Manuel Giao, who crossed the line ahead of Jesus Diez and Maximo Cortes (Jesus Diez) and Alvaro Parent and Francisco Crus Martins (ART.)

Parente and Cruz went on to finished third again in the second race, behind the Porsche 911 of Miguel Amaral-Miguel Angel de Castro and the winning Ferrari in this leg, entered by the Automobil Club d’Andorra and driven by the current series leaders, Manuel Cerqueda and Alan Sicart.

Both series will be back in action over the weekend of 4 July: the Italian one at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari Circuit, while the Spanish one takes to the track at Albacete.
