Monaco GP – A positive start

Monaco, 13 May

Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari was quickest in the first free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix, the sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, which takes place on Sunday around the street circuit of the Monegasque Principality. The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro driver completed 32 laps, with a best one of 1.15.927, ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull (1.16.000) and the Renault of Robert Kubica (1.16.016.) A good result for the other F10 in the hands of Felipe Massa, fifth on the time sheet in 1.16.517, with 30 laps to his name. Both drivers did three runs on the same set of the harder tyres, completing the session by doing a practice start on the grid, as is traditional in Monaco. The engines will fire up again for the start of the second free practice at 14.00
