Ferrari Challenge waves the Italian flag at Imola

Imola (Bologna), 18 April 2010

Two weeks after the opening event of the season in Monza, the International Enzo e Dino Ferrari Circuit at Imola played host today to the second round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. Competitors in the Italian one-make series took to the track for two races, while an impressive number of Ferrari owners took part in the special “Emozioni in pista” programme.

The grid for the F430s entered in the main category of the Trofeo Pirelli, the first race saw victory go to Lorenzo Casè, the standard bearer for the Motor/Piacenza team who came out on top on a track still wet from the early morning. He crossed the line ahead of Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP) and Andrea Belluzzi (Motor/Modena). At the end of the second race, run in the dry, Gai got the better of Casè, while third place went to Giorgio Sernagiotto (Motor/Piacenza). Among the gentlemen drivers in the Coppa Shell, Andrea Rizzoli took the first race ahead of team-mate Sergio Rota and Flavio Pierleoni (Motor/Malucelli). The second race saw Gianluca Carboni (Rossocorsa/Pellin) take the chequered flag, followed home by Pierleoni and Rizzoli.

The next round for competitors in the Italian series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will take place at the Hockenheim circuit in Germany, over the weekend of 13 June, along with the European one-make series, which also has a race in Portugal at the Portimão circuit on the weekend of 23 May, its second of the season.

Replays of Race 1 will be broadcast today at 18.30 by Sky Sport Extra, at 00.45 on Sky Sport 2 and tomorrow, Monday 19 April, again on Sky Sport 2 at 7.30 and at 14. Race 2 will be shown this evening at 19.30 on Sky Sport Extra, at 01.45 on Sky Sport 2, tomorrow at 01.45 on Sky Sport 2 and Tuesday 20 April at 7.30 on Sky Sport 2.
