The Enzo e Dino Ferrari International Circuit in Imola, is again hosting for its second round the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, which today featured a busy day of track action for drivers in the Italian version of the one-make series and Ferrari owners involved in the “Emozioni in pista” programme, completing several free practice sessions.

The two qualifying sessions were held in incessant rain, with Lorenzo Casè taking the first pole of the day in the main category, the Trofeo Pirelli: in Race 1, the Motor/Piacenza team driver got the better of classification leader Stefano Gai (Rossocorsa) and Riccardo Ragazzi (Ineco/MP) while the starting grid for the second race sees Gai leading the way, followed by Ragazzi and the San Marino driver, Andrea Belluzzi (Motor/Modena).

As for the gentlemen drivers in the Coppa Shell, the first qualifying run ended with Andrea Rizzoli (Motor/Piacenza) fastest, ahead of Sergio Rota (Motor/Piacenza) and Flavio Pierleoni (Motor/Malucelli) while in the second stint, the pace setter was Gianluca Carboni (Rossocorsa/Pellin) followed by Rizzoli and Pierleoni.

Tomorrow’s programme features two events: with the two classes taking in part in the same race, but with separate classifications and the Ferrari owners again tackling a free practice session.

The two races in the Italian series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will be shown live by Sky Sport 2 tomorrow at 9.15 (Race 1) and at 14 (Race 2.)
