Malaysian GP - Rain ruins qualifying

Sepang, 3 April

A complicated qualifying session still underway at the Sepang track: neither of the two Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro F10s made it out of the first part of the session which decides the grid for the Malaysian GP, third round of the Formula 1 World Championship. Both men languished in Q1, when the rain began to fall just a few moments after the green light was given; rain which forecasters reckoned was due to stop a few moments later. Instead, the rain intensified and the F10s could not set a competitive time: Fernando did 8 laps with a best of 1.53.044 and will start from nineteenth place tomorrow, while team-mate Felipe Massa could do no better than twenty first, with a time of 1.53.283, having done 7 laps.
