Australian GP – A stop start sort of morning

The first free practice session of the Australian Grand Prix has just come to an end at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit, to kick start the second round of the Formula 1 World Championship.
Hard to make much sense of the order, with the ninety minute session interrupted by red flags which signalled problems for Sauber’s Kamui Kobayash. At the end it was Renault’s Polish driver Robert Kubica who topped the time sheet in 1.26.927, ahead of Nico Rosberg in the Mercedes (1.27.126) and Jenson Button who did a 1.27.482 in the McLaren. Felipe Massa was the quickest of the two F10s fielded by Scuderia Toro Rosso, setting the fourth fastest time in 1.27.511, completing a total of 18 laps. Fernando Alonso was sixth on the time sheet, doing 21 laps, the quickest in 1.27.747, running with a slightly modified front wing.
