Australian GP - Traffic on track

Melbourne, 27 March

The third free practice session for the Australian Grand Prix, round two of the Formula 1 World Championship, finished a few moments ago at the Albert Park circuit.

Once again, traffic was an inevitable element on this street circuit with all the cars closely matched, at the end of a session that did not produce any conclusive view regarding tyre choice. Fernando Alonso did 19 laps, setting the second fastest time in 1.24.929 in his Ferrari, behind Mark Webber's Red Bull (1.24.719) and ahead of the Mercedes of Michael Schumacher (1.24.963.) Felipe Massa was ninth with a best of 1.25.549, completing 20 laps.

The team is now preparing for the crucial grid deciding qualifying session which starts at 5 this afternoon, local time.
