Ferrari Challenge back in Monza

Maranello, 24 March

On the upcoming weekend the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza will host the fist race of this season’s Italian and European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, the opening event of the 2010 motorsport season with the Corse Clienti activities.

The new rules include the return of the races over 40 minutes and the introduction of a free practice session over 60 minutes as well as two qualifying sessions of 30 minutes each, where Q1 sets the grid for race 1 and Q2 the one for race 2. In very race the driver, or drivers in case it’s an equipe, receives one point for the pole position and one for the fastest race lap.

The Ferrari single-marque racing series, this year held for the 18th time, will be started in Monza, where this weekend the first race of the Superstars GT Sprint series, the Gran Turismo Championship with F430 GT2s, will be held, too.

The event starts on Friday with the first free practice sessions, followed on Saturday by the qualifying, while the Sunday is dedicated to the four races – in the Italian and European series – in the Trofeo Pirelli and the Coppa Shell; the participants will race together, but in separated classifications.
