Maranello, 23 February 2010

Giovanni Soldini came to Maranello today for a special meeting with Stefano Domenicali and an in-depth visit of the Works, the Scuderia and the new production lines. The Italian sailor, famous for his one-man sea voyages, was accompanied by Fulvio Zendrini and Davide De Gennaro, CEO and Team Manager of Italia 70, the all-Italian team, which will start at the 2011 Volvo Ocean Race, with Soldini as the skipper. During the eight months round-the-world sailing competition the teams will cover stages of a distance from Alicante to Cape Town. The protagonists – the first time an all-Italian team – want to inspire themselves at Ferrari regarding organisation for competitions, as the Scuderia is famous for transferring passion into conquering important targets. Just like a Formula 1 single-seater on the track the Italia 70’s 70 feet will look for speed on the water. Before he left Maranello Soldini said with a smile on his face: “Like every Italian I’m a huge Ferrari fan, although I don’t owe one because our budget doesn’t allow it.”
