A day to remember

Milan, 22 February 2010

"Candido Cannavò has always been a friend of Ferrari," Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo, together with John Elkan and numerous VIPs present at the first ‘Candido Day’, said, to remember a friend one year after his death.
During the meeting, with the presentation of two initiatives dedicated to the editor in chief of "La Gazzetta" from 1983 to 2002, like the ‘Fondazione Candido Cannavò per lo Sport’ and ‘Una sorgente per Candido’, in favour of a water source in Ethiopia, the Ferrari Chairman's words reminded everybody present of this great friendship, the life of a sportsman and professional, shared at the World Cups in Mexico in 1986, in Italy in 1990, up to the arrival at Ferrari. "There were four fundamental elements in Candido Cannavò's character: competence, because he was a great editor in chief , bringing ahead his newspaper; passion, because he had lots of it everywhere, also going against important people in the world of sports, but always in a correct way, which is important in a particular moment in our country's history; and solidarity, the social aspect in life and sports. Who had lots of luck, and I'm saying this as the President of Telethon, has to give it all for those who are less privileged. And this is what Candido has always done, until the last day."
