ALFAROMEO 159: 5-star safety

The Alfa Romeo 159 is the tops when it comes to safety. The new sports saloon has passed the strict EuroNCAP safety tests, scoring five stars – the top score – for the protection of occupants and four stars for child safety. Scores that makes it one of the safest cars around.

The recognition gained by the Alfa 159 is particularly important for the authoritativeness of EuroNCAP (an independent association founded in 1997 by the European Commission) and the severity of its tests, which include a head-on crash test against a barrier at 64 km/hr, a side-on crash test, a collision against a post and hitting a pedestrian at 40 km/hr.

These excellent results were reached thanks to a body constructed largely of high-strength, dual-phase steels, while the doors are equipped with reinforcements in ultra-high strength steel. The range of safety equipment includes all the most advanced passive safety devices available: dual-stage front airbags, side and knee bags, and window bags. Then there are the safety belts with pretensioners and load limiters, active head restraints and pedals that detach in the event of a head-on collision. And last but not least, the rear seat has two pairs of Isofix fittings for child seats.
