Trofeo Maserati 2006 dates announced

The provisional calendar for the Trident's single-make championship has been released.

The main characteristic of the Trofeo series has been maintained as the races will still be held on the same weekend as the most prestigious events in FIA GT and WTCC covered wheel racing.

The Emilian cars will make their debut on 2 April at Monza. The Lombard circuit will also play host to a WTCC meet that weekend. Two events will be held in May: on 7 May at Silverstone and 28 May at Brno. These two races will take place at the same time as the FIA GT granturismo world championship meets.

After the June break the Trofeo Maserati Europe will move on to Oschersleben in Germany on 2 July. Belgium is next on the calendar on 29 July. There the Trofeos will take to the track before the FIA GT cars dispute the classic 24 Hours of Spa.The Republic of San Marino will be the setting for the penultimate round on 17 September. The cars derived from the GranSport will battle it out on the Imola track. The season will conclude in Valencia on 8 October when the drivers will divide the weekend with those competing in the international WTCC championship.
