Today this Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli season’s first champion was named at the Pietro Taruffi circuit in Vallelunga just outside Rome: Stefano Gai, the 23-year-old Rossocorsa driver, won the title in the Coppa Shell, the series dedicated to the gentlemen drivers, one race ahead of the end of the season. Next to the F430s, which started in this season’s sixth race, today the participants in the last round of the Trofeo Abarth 500 and the clients behind their own Ferrari wheels - thanks to the ‘Emozioni in pista’ programme - went onto the track.

At the end of the two races with separate classifications Giorgio Sernagiotto (Motor/Piacenza) won race 1 in the main category of the Trofeo Pirelli, ahead of the Rossocorsa team drivers Marco Mapelli and Emanuele Moncini, while Marco Mapelli won race 2, his second win this season, ahead of Giorgio Sernagiotto and Andrea Belluzzi (Motor/Modena). Amongst the gentlemen drivers in the Coppa Shell the first victory went to Andrea Crescentini (Motor/Piacenza), ahead of Tommaso Rocca (Rossocorsa) and Gianluca Carboni (Rossocorsa/Pellin), while the second race was won by Gianluca Carboni followed by the new champion Stefano Gai and Vincenzo Sauto (Ineco/MP).

Motor/Piacenza driver Lorenzo Casé’s intervention and the collaboration of the Autodrodomo di Vallelunga and AF Corse enabled the Rotary Club Guidonia Montecelio and Civitavecchia to make a dream for 15 differently abled youths come true: getting onto the track on board of a Ferrari, while raising awareness of the Polioplus campaign, to sustain the fight against this disease.

The Italian racing series will be back on the track at Valencia on the Ricardo Tormo track on the occasion of the World Finals from 13 to 15 November.

The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Italy will be re-shown on Sky Sport 2 on Monday 12 October at 9:45am an 5pm (race 1), on Tuesday 13 October at 9:45am and 5pm, and on Thursday 15 October at 10pm (race 2).
