Challenge staged in Vallelunga

This season’s sixth round of the Italian Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli started today at the Pietro Taruffi circuit in Vallelunga, just outside Rome. The participants in the Italian single-marque’s racing series went onto the track for the first free practice sessions and the qualifyings next to the drivers starting in the last race of the Trofeo Abarth 500 for a double qualifying session.
At the end of the qualifying for both series but with separate classifications the pole position in the Trofeo Pirelli was gained by Giorgio Sernagiotto (Motor/Piacenza) followed by Marco Mapelli (Rossocorsa) and Dario Caso (CDP). While amongst the gentlemen drivers in the Coppa Shell the best lap time was driven by Gianluca Carboni (Rossocorsa/Pellin) who tomorrow will start from the pole position just ahead of the Rossocorsa teammates Stefano Gai e Tommaso Rocca. Tomorrow’s races will be extremely exciting, because they might already decide the first titles of the 2009 season.
The start is foreseen for 10:50am: apart from the races the event offers the clients the opportunity to take their cars onto the track, thanks to the ‘Emozioni in pista’ programme.
Tomorrow’s races of the Italian Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will be shown live on Sky Sport Extra at 11:30am (race 1) and at 3:20pm (race 2). Sky Sport 2 will reshow race 1 on Monday 12 October at 9:45am and at 5pm, while race 2 will be shown again on Tuesday 13 October at 9:45am and at 5pm as well as on Thursday 15 October at 10pm.
