Challenge back in Valencia

Valencia, 26 September 2009

The first day for the participants in the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli series and some of their colleagues from the Italian series busy in the sixth event of the season – with the free practice sessions and the qualifying – ended at the Ricardo Tormo di Cheste circuit in Valencia. A remarkable number of Italian drivers benefitted from the event to race on the track where also the upcoming Ferrari Finali Mondiali will be held. An exceptional guest from the world of the international Gran Turismo competitions at the box was Gimmi Bruni, part of the AF Corse Team in the FIA GT Championship. He followed the client-drivers who went on the track today with the historical single-seaters taken care of by Maranello’s F1 Clienti department and went for some laps in the F2008, the Constructors’ World Champion car from the last Formula 1 season.

In the two qualifying sessions held in the afternoon by the cars from the European series, which hasn’t been at the Spanish track since 2006, the best lap times were driven by the F430s with the French driver Nicolas Misslin (Stradale Automobile), the Italian Lorenzo Casé (Motor/Piacenza) and the Austrian Philipp Baron (Baron Service). In the Shell Cup for Gentlemen Drivers the best lap was driven by the French duo Jean-Marc Bachelier and Yannick Mallegol from the Motor/Piacenza team, followed by the Hungarian Csaba Spitzmueller (Warm Up) and the Italian Andrea Crescentini (Motor/Piacenza).

The competition will start tomorrow morning at 9am, while the event will end with more free practice sessions by the historical F1 single-seaters and the extraordinary FXX, from the programme with the same name.
