Ferrari announces new street model
599GTB most powerful coupe' ever offered to consumers (ANSA) - Maranello, January 9 - Ferrari on Monday will announce the production of the most powerful coupe' it has ever offered the consumer. Plans for the 599GTB V12 will be illustrated at the Detroit Motor Show by Ferrari Deputy General Manager Amedeo Felisa while the new two-seater will make its debut next month at the Geneva Automobile Show .
A statement from Ferrari headquarters here said the new car will offer "the most innovative and technologically advanced engineering solutions applied to a mid-front engined" sports car .
The 599GTB will have the 5,999cc V12 engine currently used in the Enzo Ferrari supercar which can generate 620 HP at 7,600 RPM .
Designed by Pininfarina, the car will have an all-aluminium frame and body and will become the symbol of Ferrari's street production .
The 599GTB replaces the 575M Maranello which together with the 550 Maranello, introduced in 1996, was Ferrari's biggest-selling car with 5,700 models sold .
