GT racing team Damax are planning to compete in the 2006 FIA GT3 Championship with Ascari GT3 cars. The project will have the support of manufacturer Ascari and Gigawave, designers and manufacturers of a wide range of RF equipment for television broadcasts and other applications.

Team boss Robin Ward commented : "We have been looking for a way into the FIA GT Championship for some time now, and this association with Ascari gives us the perfect opportunity."  The Damax line-up will be led by Nick Adams and Aaron Scott, with the rest of drivers due to be confirmed.

The FIA GT3 European Championship will run alongside the FIA GT Championship at selected rounds in 2006, with two races per event.  Cars will compete in a 'Cup of Cups' format, with three cars per team, and a minimum of six cars per manufacturer represented. The performance balancing procedure got underway in early December, including the Ascari; FIA homologation is still pending.
