Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden endured a difficult race at Misano today, the Australian again struggling with front-end problems and the American crashing out at the second corner after making contact with Loris Capirossi. Their disappointment at the race was nothing, however, compared to their sadness and that of the whole paddock at the news that Shoya Tomizawa had passed away following an incident in the Moto2 race.

12 San Marino and Riviera di Rimini GP - Free Practice

The Ducati Marlboro Team returned from their exertions on the other side of the Atlantic and went straight back to work today as the twelfth round of the MotoGP World Championship got underway at Misano, just five days after packing up at Indianapolis. The challenge for the teams and riders lies as much in adapting their machine set-up to the demands of the Italian circuit as it does to dealing with jetlag and physical tirednes, Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner clocking up 45 laps between them in today's opening free practice session as they searched for a suitable base setting. The Ducati Marlboro pair ended up seventh and eighth fastest respectively, separated by just 0.044 seconds.

[Ducati MotoGP]DUCATI MARLBORO TEAM TARGET PODIUM RETURN AT MISANO
12 San Marino and Riviera di Rimini GP - Preview

The Ducati Marlboro Team return home this weekend looking to put on a good show for the local crowd at Misano and make up for a disappointing race last year, which Casey Stoner missed through illness whilst Nicky Hayden was taken out by another rider in the first turn. Both riders have shown their pace around the Italian circuit previously, however, Stoner having won in 2007 and leading the 2008 race before crashing, and Hayden finding a good set-up and pace for his Ducati in practice last year. As always the Ducatisti will be out in force to support them from the Ducati grandstand, which is located in the “Variante Parco”, the first turn after the start-finish straight.

[Ducati MotoGP]DIFFICULT RACE AT INDIANAPOLIS FOR DUCATI TEAM RIDERS
11 Indianapolis GP - Race

Nicky Hayden was out of luck at his home Grand Prix today, the American losing his knee slider early in the race. It is a small but crucial piece of equipment for the riders because it helps them support the bike at full lean angle. As such it was a near impossible task for Hayden but he put in a valiant effort to bring his bike home in sixth place. Casey Stoner didn't make the best of starts but was quickly making up ground and was about to challenge Valentino Rossi for sixth position on the eighth lap when he lost the front and crashed.

[Ducati MotoGP]HAYDEN ON FRONT ROW FOR HOME RACE, STONER JUST BEHIND HIM
11 Indianapolis GP - Qualifying

Nicky Hayden will start a MotoGP race from the front row of the grid for the first time in Ducati Team colours tomorrow after a sensational qualifying performance at Indianapolis. The American rider's fastest ever lap of his home circuit moved him into provisional pole position with just a few minutes remaining of this afternoon's session but he was nudged out to third place by late efforts from his compatriot Ben Spies and series leader Jorge Lorenzo.
Casey Stoner will start from directly behind his team-mate after qualifying sixth fastest. The Australian found a good pace on race tyres but did not experience the same leap in quality as Hayden when switching to a softer tyre, so despite being amongst the pacesetters all weekend he lines up on the second row.

[Ducati MotoGP]STONER AND HAYDEN START OUT ON TOP AT INDY
11 Indianapolis GP - Free Practice

Ducati Team riders Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden made an impressive start to the Indianapolis GP today, clocking the fastest and third fastest times respectively in the first free practice. Stoner wasted little time getting to grips with the famous 'Brickyard' track despite missing the event here last year through illness - his fastest lap came on the 15th of 22 and made him the only rider to dip below the 1'42 mark today.
Hayden's impressive progress was halted twelve minutes from the end of the hour when a high speed lowside sent him sliding into the gravel. The crash came moments after the local favourite had set his best time of the session, an effort that firmly establishes him as a potential frontrunner in Sunday's race.

[Ducati MotoGP]TEAM DUCATI RETURN TO HISTORIC INDIANAPOLIS
11 Indianapolis GP - Preview

Team Ducati returns to the United States of America this week for the eleventh round of the MotoGP World Championship, which takes place at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is the second home race of the season for Nicky Hayden, who was born, raised and still lives in Owensboro, Kentucky, not far from the border with the neighboring State of Indiana. Hayden finished third at Indy last year, his best result of the season, and he would love to repeat it this Sunday. His left wrist, injured during qualifying at Brno, is in better shape and should not hinder him this weekend. Casey Stoner is also looking forward to racing at Indy for the first time since he took fourth place in the rain-interrupted inaugural race in 2008. The Australian is also keen to confirm whether technical updates introduced at the post-race test at Brno have a positive effect at the famous old circuit.
