[Menu dei Motori]The Tradition of “Menu dei Motori” Continues … and Now We Are Exactly in the Finishing Straight for the Twentieth Anniversary (2016) ...

MdM_N°19
BUY ONLINE
Here we are again to summarise and comment the facts of this year (2014), which will be with us for the whole year (2015) in this second special issue mainly dedicated to Maserati Centenary celebrations.
Maserati is still the company that makes the headlines, beyond the necessary official celebrations dedicated to its Centenary. In reality, the near future of Maserati and the entire FCA (Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles) Group becomes really interesting for Modena and its automotive industries.
The present situation is first described by the CEO of Maserati and Alfa Romeo, Mr. H. Harald Wester, describing in detail the business plan, and by Maserati Product Development Director, Mr. Roberto Corradi, who introduces himself and makes us understand the real turning points of Maserati up to the current success from the engineering and management standpoints.
Between the lines of the two interviews (and not only), it is possible to see the future technological centre that is being established in Modena, with the cooperation of course of all linked artisans, consultants, and specialised companies, and especially the University of Modena, in particular its Vehicle Engineering Master Department, which has been involved for years with Ferrari, in research and development of new concepts.
The picture of Maserati is completed by the report of the Centenary celebrations and the new models and concepts, as well as by an in-depth analysis by Mr. Antonio Cesaretti who, as the former Project Leader of one of the “crucial” models in the turning point of Maserati, i.e. the Quattroporte V (2003), the first true Maserati designed in full synergy with its cousin Ferrari, tells us a number of interesting background stories on the birth of the project.

Milan, 4th March 2008. Ecology and performance, safety and sporting spirit, dream cars and cars that let you sleep at night, the P Zero Collection and the new Cinturato. Pirelli heads to the 78th Geneva Motor Show as an undispute protagonist in the Swiss event and a point of reference for the global automotive industry. Not solely in the high-end market with the P Zero products that will equip the show’s most eagerly awaited new models and prototypes, but also in the mid-range sector in which the new Cinturato launched last January in Milan will be presented and already chosen by the major carmakers as original equipment for numerous models. The Pirelli stand will also have a sporting theme, with the Milan-based firm this year involved on a number of fronts, in particular as sole supplier to the World Rally Championship and the Grand-AM series. Pirelli’s motorsport commitments will be illustrated by the Citroën C4 WRC driven by World Champion Sebastian Loeb who, together with Daniel Sordo, will be a guest of honour on the Pirelli stand. The French champion’s car will be equipped with all the tyres developed by Pirelli for the 2008 World Rally Championship, the P Zero, the Sottozero and the Scorpion, the names of which deliberately coincide with their road-going counterparts in order to underline the close and on-going relationship between, sport, research and production characterising Pirelli products.

The P Zero family equips the stars of the show Pirelli is a protagonist throughout the Geneva
Show, above all on the stands of the manufacturers of supercars and the most prestigious models, with particular attention being paid to the concept cars. This is the case with Aston Martin that has chosen Geneva to present its new V12 Vantage RS concept equipped with Pirelli P Zero tyres and Seat that is presenting a new protoype. The P Zero has also been chosen for the Pagani Zonda F, the car that last November set a new Fastest Lap record at the Nürburgring. There are great expectations for the new Lamborghini Gallardo that will be shod with high performance Pirelli tyres and for the new Jaguar.
The new Alfa Romeo 8C Spider will also be fitted with P Zeros, as will the Saab 9-3 Black Turbo, the eagerly awaited Lancia Delta and the new 500 Abarth. [Menu dei Motori]Menu dei Motori annuary - 2007: a special year!

Not only for Ferrari, which celebrates its 60th anniversary; but also for Pirelli, which even celebrates its centenary motor racing heritage. Far from being just one of the main sponsors for Ferrari’s 60th anniversary, Pirelli naturally wanted to take an active part to this special number of Menu dei Motori (the magazine “Motors’ menu”). That’s not all, of course. Maserati introduces its latest creation, the brand-new Gran Turismo, and celebrates several significant anniversaries as well, such as the 60th of collaboration with PininFarina, the 50th of the last victory in F1 world Championship conquered by Fangio, which dates back to 1957, and, in the same year, the beginning of the series-production of its successful GT road cars. As far as concerns Ducati, waiting for its brand new style centre – we would be glad to introduce it to you in the next edition... – let’s have a look at its history in Moto GP, from its first attempts in the late 2002 up to the present time, when its success has already become a nightmare for the Japanese giants, including Honda and Yamaha.

[Menu dei Motori]AUTOFFICINA SAURO - BOLOGNA - ITALY - For Ferrari and Maserati owners

They became an authorized service centre for Ferrari customers in April 1964, when they were still operating out of their former premises in Via del Borgo: a small bodyshop located near the train station of Bologna. Soon after, through Eugenio Dragoni - then Sports Director of the Maranello outfit - they were appointed as “official” service providers by Enzo Ferrari in person.

This was not a chance event, but was undoubtedly due to their immense experience. In fact, Luciano Rizzoli, at that time, was fresh from an important position in OSCA, the specialist workshop owned by the Maserati brothers (where he had worked for 8 years!), while Sauro Mingarelli had been working in a Lancia service centre.
