The 2006 Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europa ended today (Thursday 7 December) with the spectacular event at the MotorShow of Bologna. Eight drivers battled it out in the Maserati GranSport Trofeos with Andrea Demegni-Daniel Mancinelli eventually getting the better of Marco Basseto-Edwards Barry Walsh and Maurizio Fabris-Alberto Vescovi.

Two Maserati GranSports also lined up alongside the Aston Martin Vantages in the Pirelli Champions Cup. Drivers from rallying, superbikes and the FIA GT like Gigi Galli, Stephane Sarrazin, Markku Alen, Alex Caffi, Gianluca Nannelli and Fabio Babini all took part. Victory was taken by Babini who beat off Caffi and Alen.

The opening Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati semi-final saw Mancinelli and Demegni triumph over Fabris and Vescovi with the other semi being taken by Basseto-Barry Walsh from Manuzzi-Romani. In the third place run-off, Fabris-Vescovi edged out Manuzzi-Romani. The final was close with Mancinelli (winner of the Federation's Superconcorso Velocità) taking on Basseto and then Demegni and the young Englishman Barry Walsh on track.

The best time overall in the 2006 Trofeo Audemars Piguet Maserati Europa was set by new champion Maurizio Fabris, in 2¿04"49.
